Buggy networking on edgy

Hal ini terjadi saat salah satu interface di tarantula gw tidak terhubung, maka secara pasti proses booting pun akan berlangsung sangat amat lambat, salah satu cara yang bisa gw lakukan adalah

menekan Alt+Ctrl+F1
login ke user dan mengetikkan
-- command -- sudo /etc/init.d/networking stop
,kemudian exit dan kembali ke Xwindows menggunakan Alt+Ctrl+F7

barulah proses masuk ke gnome akan kembali lancar, dan nantinya gw harus menyalakan interface jaringan secara manual. blahh

Web support ready on Edgy

instal mysql server

sudo apt-get install mysql-server
mysqladmin -u root password paswodnya-ach
sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart

instal apache

apt-get install apache2 apache2-common apache2-doc apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils libapr0 libexpat1 ssl-cert libapache2-mod-auth-mysql

instal php5

apt-get install autoconf automake1.4 autotools-dev libapache2-mod-php5 php5 php5-common php5-curl php5-dev php5-gd php-pear php5-ldap php5-mhash php5-mysql php5-mysqli php5-snmp php5-sqlite php5-xmlrpc php5-xsl php5-imap php5-mcrypt php5-pspell

Jika muncul "Continue installing libc-client without Maildir support?" jawab "Yes"
Edit /etc/apache2/apache2.conf dan rubah "Directory Index" ke

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.cgi index.php index.php3 index.pl index.xhtml

Edit /etc/apache2/ports.conf dan tambahkan Listen 443

Listen 80
Listen 443

Enable module apache

a2enmod ssl
a2enmod rewrite
a2enmod suexec
a2enmod include

Kemudian restart apache anda

/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

silahkan akses dari browser anda http://localhost:443 untukk https/ssl dan http://localhost untuk http

Edgy, Toshiba tecra M1, XP4m32 Trident graphics chip, and Scrolling a window

After i installed a new version of ubuntu (the Edgy Eft) on my tarantula, i found that my video card wasnt work properly especially when im doing fast scrolling, after i searching it through many search engine just to find some "typical problems" (noted: ive already configure my xserver for many times but wont work), i found a link that make my video card works perfect on Edgy

just do this steps

#apt-get install xorg-dev
#apt-get build-dep xorg-server
#wget -c http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/\
driver/xf86-video-trident-1.2.3.tar.bz2
#tar xjf xf86-video-trident-1.2.3.tar.bz2
#cd video-trident-1.2.3
#./configure
#make
#make DESTDIR=/tmp/xorg_ install
--- Backup old driver
#sudo mv /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/trident_drv.so /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/trident_drv.so.bak
--- Install new one
#cd /tmp/xorg_/usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/
#sudo mv * /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/

Restart X and your're set.

Edgy dan cd repositories

thx buat fajran yang dah mau nganterin cd Edgy serta Reposiories buat edgy dan dapper tadi sore. Berhubung laptop gw lagi di sita (ehhehee) jadinya nginstallnya mungkin besok. Mo cobain edgy ah. (sorry kalo telat euforianya :P)

xUbuntu ?

Well, akhirnya kesampean juga donlod XFCE (liat post tentang if only), padahal gw dah sekian lama pengen cobain di ubuntu. Dan jadilah dia xUbuntu bercokol di laptop gw, hmm apakah dia akan menggantikan gnome?, well kita liat saja nanti. cuma untuk urusan ngambil skrinsot agak sulit juga karena tombol di laptop gak di "respons" sama nih dektop environtment; secara gw tau XFCE emang kemungkinan besar cuma "include" program2 penting aja.

So, inilah xfce di badger gw ...

if only?

Alangkah gembiranya kalo setiap konek ke internet dapet speed sekencang ini,



lihat kan 102kB/s ... wush .. wush



alhasil donlod 25 mega (paket XFCE full) cuma 5 menit alias (80,6 kB/s). Kapan yah tiap konek internet di manapun di negara indonesia bisa "speednya" kek gini dan murah, or minimal setiap konek internet di kantor or di warnet dah .. hehehe

p.s: hal ini terjadi saat pemakai koneksi 1MBps di kantor cuma beberapa org, karena abis di perbaiki jadi pada belum tau kalo bisa internet :P

love ubuntu so much ?

Ubuntu 6.06 iso; Ubuntu5.10 live CD; nUbuntu.iso running on Ubuntu 5.10 with qemu ... yes, im playin with qemu now (lil bit late, but is ok :P) gahh,- love ubuntu so much?

[again] opera not supported?

Baru aja nyobain groups-beta milik !google, dan memang dibandingkan versi lamanya googlegroups.com, tentu saja versi beta ini memberikan banyak hal yang lebih baik dari segi tampilan serta kemudahan lainnya, aku sempat browse milis id-ubuntu di !google via http://groups-beta.google.com/group/id-ubuntu (see a picture for a screenshot)



dan setelah explorasi sampai juga pada satu fitur yang disediakan google, yaitu , karena penasaran dengan fitur baru ini maka aku meng-click-nya, dan adapun hasilnya



wew, another "not supported" page, sebelum ini flickr juga tidak mensupport opera (baca juga, flickr discriminates opera). If u asking about why am i still using opera as a browser, so u should read this, it is also just because of firefox license.

Firefox 2 rc 1

Baru dapet firefox versi 2 (baru abis download), langsung gw coba jalanin eh dia langsung ngupdate swiftfox (a.k.a deerpark) gw. Gw terkesan ma tampilannya yang halus banget :), beberapa kelebihannya juga di kupas di www.eweek.com, selebihnya gw mo coba dulu ah. Yu ah(TM)

Ubuntu Stickers & Cd

At last i`ve got an Original ubuntu linux Cds (version 6.06 LTS; code name dapper drake; via shippit) and also a stickers included, thxs to someone that give me that.

Im not promising to use this version, because till now my laptop still using ubuntu version 5.10 (code name breezy badger) as an operating system.

Kernel Security Update

At last i have a time to upgrade a my kernel to a newer version of kernel and fixs most of its security issues, for example



After i upgrade the kernel (noted that im still making an older kernel avaliable till now ;))



this vulnerability allowing local user to gain root priveledge. Before this, i always says to anybody who asking why iam not upgrading my kernel yet is because i like to give a preview to everyone for this vulnerability :p (altough im so lazy to upgrade it). Damn im so lazy :P ..

Security Update

Yes, im using synaptic to sort the update, its just because i have a limited b/w before (actually i often choose an important update first (security update)). But now i have more speed to download (all) it in a short time. And yes, im still using Breezy Badger version (5.10) not the newest version, just because i feel comfortable with this version (truly, i hate to configure much thing again) n i have a mid-level notebook specification :lol:.

Ubuntu optimization

Cape-cape cari sana-cari sini, coba pikir sana-pikir sini bagaimana caranya agar ubuntuku bisa speed-up performancenya, minimal openoffice bisa jalan baik, maklum laptop gw berkategori "lawas" (but i love it). Akhirnya ada beberapa link bagus buat di try..

khusus untuk openoffice hal yang bisa dilakukan adalah menurunkan penggunaan memory, serta mematikan penggunaan java,

untuk setting penggunaan memory, pilih tools > options > openoffice.org > memory dan set seperti gambar :




untuk mematikan JRE, pilih tools > options > openoffice.org > Java. Unmark penggunaan Java Runtime Environment option.



tetapi beberapa fitur tidak akan berfungsi jika JRE dimatikan, semisal menyimpan file dalam format pocket-word, "wizards", dan database tidak berfungsi.

Serta mematikan service yang tidak kita gunakan akan memberikan support memori lebih buat kit anantinya :), masih banyak cara lainnya tapi aku baru menggunakan cara-cara ini saja.

fake ubuntu counter number ?

Setelah baca postingan imtheface di id-uubuntu mailing-list dan di posting ulang kosha di blog ini tentang ubuntu counter, walau telat bacanya maka aku langsung daftar dan kebetulan aku dapet urutan ke 4444 dengan gambar sbb



langsung saja tergelitik melihat kodenya,

seharusnya apabila link tersebut di klik akan lari ke info user yang bersangkutan sehingga minimal akan ketahuan siapa sesungguhnya user no 1 (cie) tetapi link itu cuma menuju homesite dari ubuntu counter , sehingga aku rasa sangat memungkinkan untuk di palsukan, so? (please be serious in developing it :()

Wine combined with command line

Cuma karena keseringan pakai "run" box (di m$) , dan kebiasaan lainnya yang lebih parah adalah "penggunaan notepad" untuk melakukan semua kegiatan text processing saat berada di sistem berbasis M$ tersebut, maka aku yang emang dah sangat amat suka mengetikkan sebaris command di "command line"-nya ubuntu dengan refleks mengetikkan "notepad" saat akan mencatat sesuatu, mari kita lihat gambar :p



saat aku dengan refleks juga menekan enter setelah huruf "d" berakhir, maka munculah tampilan notepad (tulisan itu ada setelah aku paste (itu yang mau di catat :p) --gak penting ) seperti gambar dibawah ini (sama persis seperti di m$ --red)



sambil berpikir sejenak dan sedikit kaget dipikiranku langsung terlintas "apakah notepad sudah free atau malah sudah opensource ?, (halah, halah)" tapi lamunan itu kemudian 100% aku yakini tidak benar, yang terlintas dikepalaku berikutnya adalah wine yang di embeded kedalam command-line dan pikiran ini langsung di "amin"-kan oleh "logika"-ku , jadilah "ps -awx | grep notepad" yang bekerja mencari tau, dan didapatkan ....



... fiuh :)
